Levels, pool schedules and tuition for your swim school
A swim school runs dozens of small groups at the same time and moves students up a level in the middle of the season. Membrix keeps each student's group, price and history intact when that happens.
Free plan with unlimited students. No credit card to start.
Membrix's app and dashboard are currently available in Spanish.

Situations that only come up in swim schools
A student moves up a level in week five
A student passes the evaluation and goes from Level 2 to Level 3: new group, new price. If each level is a program, “Change program” (Cambiar de programa) moves them and keeps their payment and attendance history on the record. On Pro, you can also record the decision as promoted or not promoted, with a date and a note.
Groups that fill up fast
Each class has an optional maximum capacity. The dashboard shows how many spots are left or that the class is full, and the public registration form marks full classes so they can't be chosen. Membrix has no waiting list: a full class stays full until someone leaves.
The pool closes and the lesson has to move
A cancelled session can be rescheduled to a new date and time, and enrolled students move to it automatically without rebuilding the series. Enrolled students get an app notification when you cancel or reschedule (that part is Pro).
Eight-week sessions instead of endless months
Many swim schools sell a session with a start date, an end date and a set number of payments. A program can bill as a fixed-length course, so the payments are spread across the course and the enrollment closes when it ends. Adults who swim laps can buy a class package that expires after a number of weeks.
How swim schools use Membrix
- 1
Create a program for each level
“Tadpoles”, “Level 1”, “Adult beginners”: each program gets a price, a billing day and a billing model. A registration fee can be a one-time charge added when the student enrolls.
- 2
Build the groups on the calendar
Click a time on the calendar to create a class: which days, what time, how long the series runs, and a maximum capacity. Use the room or location field for the pool or the lane, and assign an instructor for each day.
- 3
Let people sign up through a link
Turn on the registration link, choose which questions to ask, and share the link or its QR code. Each request arrives in Students as “to review” and you approve it, setting when billing starts.
- 4
Take attendance and move students up
Instructors mark each student present or absent from the web portal (the mobile app is Pro). When a student advances, move the student to the next program and keep the history.

What Membrix doesn't do
So you know up front whether it fits.
- Membrix doesn't schedule lifeguards or reserve lanes. The room field is a label on the class; if two groups want the same lane at the same time, you resolve it when you build the schedule.
- It doesn't check for conflicts between classes, instructors or students, and it has no waiting list.
- The registration form doesn't accept files or signatures. You can add a yes/no question, and you can publish rules the person must accept, but it isn't a waiver or e-signature tool.
- Recording “promoted” doesn't move the student: the decision is stored, and you move them with Change program.
Frequently asked questions about Membrix for swim schools
Can I bill by the session instead of by the month?
+
Yes. A program can be a fixed-length course with a start date, an end date and a set number of payments. When the course ends, the enrollment closes. You can also sell a class package: a pre-paid number of classes with an expiration in weeks, deducted as you take attendance.
What happens to a student's history when they change level?
+
Nothing is lost. Change program moves the student to the new level and keeps payment and attendance history on the same record.
Can instructors take attendance poolside?
+
Instructors sign in to the web portal from any phone or tablet browser and mark each student present or absent. The mobile app for teachers is a Pro feature. Because the interface is in Spanish, it helps if your instructors are comfortable with it.
How does the registration link handle capacity?
+
When a student picks a class, the form shows your active classes with their schedule, and full classes appear marked. Choosing a class is optional or required, your call. On the free plan, sign-up number 4 in a month waits in a queue until the next month or until you go Pro.
Is there a limit on how many students I can have?
+
No. The free plan has unlimited students, with no credit card to sign up. Only some extras, like automatic reminders and the mobile app, need Pro.
